People & payroll comparison
Deel vs Rippling vs Remote (2026): pricing, features and which to choose
Compare the employment model, complete cost and workflows before choosing a global workforce platform.
Our assessment: shortlist Deel when international employment and mixed employee/contractor administration lead the project. Shortlist Rippling when the decision also includes replacing or consolidating your core HR workflows. Shortlist Remote when you want a focused global-employment comparison with a clearly stated annual-versus-monthly EOR price. First decide who will legally employ each worker: comparing an EOR fee with a payroll-processing fee produces a misleading answer.
This comparison uses public vendor documentation checked on 31 October 2026. We have not tested the products hands-on. All prices are in USD. Prices checked 31 October 2026; confirm on the vendor's site.

Compare the right service before comparing the fee
An EOR employs a worker through its local arrangement while your team directs daily work. Own-entity payroll processes pay for employees of your company. Standard contractor management handles agreements, invoices and payments while your business retains the contractor relationship. Contractor of Record changes the contracting arrangement and includes different responsibilities and protections. These are separate purchasing decisions, not interchangeable subscription tiers. Remote's EOR explanation, Rippling payroll, Rippling COR.
Build a country-by-country headcount list with employee versus contractor status and entity ownership before requesting prices. A ten-person team can need two or three service models simultaneously. Our global payroll versus EOR guide explains that starting decision.
Pricing: subscription fees are only part of the budget
Deel
Deel lists EOR from $599 per employee/month, contractor management from $49 per contractor/month and Contractor of Record from $325 per contractor/month. These fees purchase different services; wages and full employment costs still need their own calculation. Its general FAQ describes monthly flexibility, but the applicable order form and country-specific employment obligations govern an actual exit. Deel pricing.
For own-entity payroll, Deel's official comparison article publishes a $29 per employee/month starting reference. Obtain a written scope for the countries, managed services and implementation you need. A headline rate cannot tell you which existing administrative tasks the provider will take over. Deel payroll price reference.
EOR also creates a funding requirement: Deel's help center describes a usual deposit of 1–1.5 times monthly charges, with circumstances that can increase it. A refundable deposit is cash tied up rather than the same thing as a subscription expense. Ask for the amount, currency and release conditions before agreeing a start date. Deel deposit documentation.
Rippling
Rippling's pricing is configuration-led: the core platform supports separately selected products, and base fees may apply. Its own October 2025 comparison publishes EOR from $499 per employee/month, but that dated starting reference is not a current all-inclusive quote. The comparison table therefore labels Rippling as quote-required. Rippling pricing, published EOR reference.
Request platform and product charges as separate lines, then add implementation, each country, payment processing and optional modules. Ask which commitments and minimums apply. Rippling also qualifies its free off-cycle payroll claim by jurisdiction; partner-delivered EOR arrangements can incur additional charges. Rippling's payroll review.
Remote
Remote's $599 EOR headline is a monthly equivalent for annual contracts. Its help center lists $699 per employee/month for standard active usage. Contractor management starts at $29, Plus at $99 and COR at $325 per contractor/month. Standard management and Plus retain your direct contractor relationship; COR changes it. Review the actual contract before relying on protection limits. Remote pricing, standard monthly EOR fee.
Remote payroll starts at $29 per employee/month. However, its public pricing FAQ says no setup fees while its payroll billing help describes an implementation fee; a separate help article lists mandatory annual year-end processing. Obtain an itemized schedule rather than assuming the headline covers every service. Payment, currency-conversion and international-transfer charges can also vary. Payroll product, billing, service costs, payment charges.
Remote says it has no standard deposit, but a refundable reserve can be required. None of these vendors' service fees should be treated as a complete salary, benefits, employer-contribution or termination budget. Separate refundable funding from recurring expense in your comparison. Remote reserve policy.

Where each option is stronger
Deel: our assessment favors it as a starting shortlist when employment arrangements are the main complexity. Its payroll modes and international EOR offering give buyers several ways to retain or delegate administration. The useful demo is one complete hire-to-pay process in your actual countries, including an exception, rather than a tour of every module. Deel EOR.
Rippling: our assessment favors it when connected HR records, approvals and payroll changes are part of the same replacement project. That potential value is smaller if you intend to keep every existing HR process. Include migration ownership, permission setup and integration maintenance in the implementation discussion. Rippling global HRIS.
Remote: our assessment favors it when the shortlist centers on employment administration and clearly separating contractor arrangements. Its EOR page describes owned entities, while contractor management covers agreements, screening, invoice approval and payments. Confirm the exact country, service and contract; broad platform coverage is not a promise that every role is eligible. Remote EOR, Remote contractors.
Four practical buyer scenarios
A US startup hiring two employees in Europe without entities: compare country-specific EOR proposals from all three. Ask for employer costs, benefits, deposits or reserves, payroll cutoffs and the cost of ending the arrangement. A small monthly service-price difference may matter less than funding or notice requirements.
A 60-person company replacing disconnected HR processes: start with Rippling's workflow proposition, then compare its complete platform quote against retaining the current HR system with Deel or Remote. Demonstrate the same pay-change approval and accounting handoff in each proposal.
A business with 20 genuine contractors across several countries: compare standard contractor services first, then determine whether a COR arrangement is appropriate. Do not purchase a different classification label simply to reach a cheaper price. The work relationship needs an appropriate arrangement before platform selection.
A group already employing through three local entities: evaluate own-entity payroll rather than EOR. Give each vendor the same headcount, currencies, payment responsibilities, integrations and annual processing events. Compare the first-year cost and steady-state cost separately.
These are hypothetical buying situations, not Elysian TechBridge customers or measured product outcomes.
Alternatives to a new EOR subscription
If you already have the employing entity, own-entity payroll may match the job better. If the current provider covers the needed countries, use our software buying checklist to compare an expansion quote against migration. If the employment model is still unresolved, the workforce-fit questionnaire can organize the questions before a vendor call.
Buyer questions
Which is cheapest?
No universal winner is established. Compare the same service, country, headcount and commitment, then include fixed fees, employment costs, implementation and payment charges. Keep deposits in a separate cash requirement column.
Can I use payroll without establishing a local entity?
Own-entity payroll assumes you are the employer. EOR is the separate model intended for hiring where you lack an employing entity. Country and worker eligibility still require confirmation. Remote payroll.
Does a large country count guarantee my hire is supported?
No. EOR employment, own-entity payroll and contractor payouts have different coverage. Rippling's contractor page, for example, describes 185+ countries; that is not its EOR count. Ask for written confirmation of country, role and work authorization. Rippling contractors.
Does contractor management remove classification responsibility?
Do not assume so. Ordinary administration and COR are distinct arrangements. Check the contracting party, review process, exclusions and responsibility for claims in the proposed agreement. Rippling COR.
What should the final quote include?
Ask for recurring fees, minimums, implementation, benefits, employer contributions, annual processing, payment and FX costs, reserves, termination, data export and migration responsibilities. Specify invoice currency, contract length and who handles each task. An itemized quote is more useful than a discount percentage without a defined base.
